Japanese's Boiled Radish

It's nearly one now and my head is getting blur. With just 4 hours sleep a night before, it has been quite a long day for me. I surprised I'm manage to go through the day with just taking a 5 minutes nap in the evening.
Anyway, I went to Dohby Ghaut's Carrefour with King Liang in the afternoon. I've already had in mind what I'll be buying there*drums rolling* Radish, mirin, miso, pork and fishflake, the ingredients that I need to make Japanese's Boiled Radish, a.k.a. 大根の煮物! The simplicity and exotic taste of Jasmine's boiled radish is just simple irresistable. Finding the ingredients wasn't a piece of cake though, I had to constantly bothering Jasmine with my sms to search for the correct ingredients! (りえ、ごめんあさい!)
I was dissapointed when I only found one of the ingredients, which is the Japan's radish, a.k.a. Japan Daikon. Blame myself for not following my mom to supermarket, I ended up buying it at the price of SGD 5.50! I only found out later that there's something so called "normal radish" which can be brought cheaper than the Japan's radish. *gasp* I couldn't risk letting my mom knows about it...

It's huge isn't it...
Since I can't find any other ingredients in Carrefour, so I decided to goto Clementi Fair Price to look for them. Unknowingly, King Liang and I alight on the wrong MRT leading to Bugis instead of Raffles Place. So I was thinking why not I'll just shop around at Senyo Supermarket in Bugis? So I ended up hunting for the items alone while King Liang went to his relatives' house.
Senyo Supermarket wasn't a big supermarket though, but what surprised me is where one of the small section of the suppermarket was packed with a wide assortment of Japanese's food! With the lack of Japan's linguistic abilities, I scanned through all the product for more than three times and asked Jasmine tons of question before I found the exact ingredients that is needed. (T_T) Not to mention troubling all the promoters in the vicinity! One of the promoter even tries to ignore me.
"Excuse me, do you know what it means by meat without born?"
*shows her Jasmine's sms*
"Er...Uh... *avoiding my phone as if it's a brain-washer device*"
"Hmm...*shake head* Don't know..."
Sianz.... Boh bian lor...
So after I've gone through the tedious work of hunting for the rest of the ingredients, I went straight back to PGP, with three bottles of 1.5 litter of 100 plus in my backpack, and a handful of foods, instant noodles, Kimchi, Listerin mouth wash and Gillette Series shaving gel! Ha!!! Finally the growth of my bread is started to be accelerating! Shame on those who is still lack of opportunity to shave his own beard! *does tribal dance around the room*
It was like 4 pm when I reached my room. I immediately cooked a package of instant noodles. Because of the tasteless foods in my residence canteen, I took all the opportunity to skip my lunchs and dinners whenever I can. So... Well... I skipped my lunch and went to Carrefour instead, and came back with a rumbling stomach.
I started to prepare the radish soup at 6 pm. I started off by boiling a pot of water and putting in a pack of fishflake. Next, I cut the radish into big slices and put into the fishflake soup. You can remove the fishflake if you want, but it's okay even if you don't remove it. After that I placed some pork that is cut into smaller pieces into the pot. I then put in some soy sauce and three tablespoons of mirin. (Remember not to put too much of the sauces, if it's not enough, you can always put it later) You'll have to cook for about 5 hours, to get the taste of the soup into the radish. Jasmine told me that the main thing is the radish and people don't normally drink the soup. Again, nothing's wrong drinking the soup. Hehe.

After some fine tuning with the radish soup by adding more soy sauce, it was pretty much that's it. No one except me have tried the radish yet, but I'll let my sensei to be the first one to comment about it. Hehe.
